Data Management

Peasy gives you control over your data with options to explore using demo data or completely reset your account when needed.

Adding Demo Data

Demo data is a sample dataset from a fictional company (Mustard & Co.) that includes items, vendors, customers, orders, and inventory. It's useful for:

  • Exploring Peasy before adding your own data
  • Testing features risk-free
  • Training new team members

How to Add Demo Data

The quickest way is to ask Beacon (the chat assistant) to load demo data. You can also add it yourself:

  1. Go to your Home page
  2. Choose the Demo journey (or click Add demo data)
  3. Confirm Add demo data in the dialog that appears
  4. Peasy creates the sample records and drops you into the app to explore

Demo records are tagged so they can be removed later. Adding Demo keeps your existing data and adds the sample catalogs alongside your Default catalog. Your account keeps its current default catalog.

Wiping Data

Peasy offers two ways to remove data from your account: wipe demo data only, or wipe everything and start fresh.

How to Access the Wipe Data Feature

When you have demo data in your account:

  1. Click your company name at the top of the sidebar to open the account menu
  2. Select Clear demo data from the dropdown menu
  3. In the dialog that appears, you can choose to wipe just demo data or all data

This dialog gives you two options:

Option 1: Demo Data Only

Removes only the sample data that was added via "Add Demo Data". Your own data will not be affected.

When to use this:

  • You've explored with demo data and are ready to add your real inventory
  • You want to clear sample records but keep your actual business data

What it removes:

  • All records tagged as demo data (items, vendors, customers, orders, etc.)

What it keeps:

  • Everything you created yourself
  • Your Default and other existing catalogs stay in place; only the sample catalogs are removed
  • An empty Default catalog is created if no catalogs remain

If a saved standing order uses demo customers, products, or locations, clearing demo data is blocked to protect that order. Contact support to review the references before removing data.

Option 2: ALL Data

Permanently deletes all data from your account including:

  • All items and inventory records
  • All customers and vendors
  • All orders (sales orders, purchase orders, transfer orders)
  • All bills and work orders
  • All RFQs and quotes

It also returns everyone's Home and dashboard card arrangements to the defaults, so the Getting started card comes back for every teammate.

When to use this:

  • You need to completely start over
  • You want to reset your account to a clean slate

Important restrictions:

  • This action cannot be undone
  • Non-admin users can only wipe all data once — if you need to do this again, you'll need to contact support or have an admin on your team do it
  • Admin users have unlimited wipes

Resetting to Start Fresh

If you currently have Demo data and want to start fresh, open Clear demo data, choose ALL data, and confirm the wipe. The clean workspace includes an empty Default catalog.

Adding Demo to an existing workspace keeps your data and does not use your one-time full wipe. The separate Reset & Add Demo Data action deletes existing data before loading the sample records and requires confirmation.

The one-time full-wipe limit still applies to resets. If Demo loading fails, you can retry Add Demo Data without another full wipe.

Good to Know

  • The "Clear demo data" option in your user menu only appears when you have demo data added to your account AND you haven't used your one-time full wipe yet
  • Wiping data clears your onboarding journey progress — you'll start fresh with journey selection
  • Adding Demo preserves your existing catalogs and default choice; clearing Demo leaves them in place
  • The full wipe (all data) is limited to one use for non-admin users to prevent accidental data loss
  • If you've already used your one-time wipe and need to reset again, contact an admin user on your team or reach out to support
  • If you accidentally wipe data or need help recovering, contact support immediately
