Item Detail Panel

The item detail panel groups everything you need to know about a single item — its inventory unit, its category, on-hand stock per location, and a full history of every change. Each step below has a Show me button that lights up the compass on the matching control so you can see exactly where it lives.

The compasses live inside the item detail panel and the location rows it expands. Open any item from Inventory > All Items to see them.

The tour

1. Go to the Inventory page

The item detail panel opens from the Inventory page when you click any item card. The compasses for this tour live inside that panel.

2. Inventory Unit

The inventory unit is the base unit each item is counted in. Every variant (case, each, etc.) converts back to this unit for stock tracking.

3. Category

Categories group items in lists, KPIs, and reports. You can pick an existing category or create one inline.

4. Inventory by Location

On-hand stock per location, with rows that expand for adjusting or restocking.

5. Restock Point (per location)

Once you expand a location row, the per-location restock point sets the minimum on-hand level before the item is flagged for reorder at that location.

6. Restock or Adjust

Inside the same expanded row, choose Restock to add new stock (creates a receipt) or Adjust to correct an existing count without affecting purchase history.

7. Inventory History

Every change to on-hand stock for this item — adjustments, restocks, sales, and transfers — in one timeline.

Tips

  • The inventory unit is set once when the item is created. Variants reference it via their conversion ratio.
  • Categories are shared across the entity — adding a new one here makes it available everywhere.
  • Use Adjust for corrections (e.g. "I miscounted yesterday"); use Restock when stock physically arrived without a PO.
