Lot tracking in Peasy is how you capture batch-level traceability for the items you receive and produce. There's no setting to turn on — receiving a purchase order or completing a work order with positive output creates a lot record for that batch. A zero-output work order creates no finished lot.
How It Works in Peasy
- Lots are created at receiving: each line on a PO gets a Lot ID (auto-generated from the SKU and date, editable before you submit) and an optional Supplier Lot ID you can capture from your vendor.
- Lots are also created when you complete a work order with a positive Qty Made and enter a lot number for the finished batch.
- Every lot shows up on the Lots tab of its item's detail page with its number, current quantity, and status.
- When you ship a sales order, the shipment records the lot that was consumed. The lot you pick on the order line is the planned default that seeds the shipment — you can override it per shipment.
- Shopify orders can assign lots automatically using FIFO — enable "Auto-assign lot IDs to Shopify orders" on the Shopify connection's settings card.
- Work orders, transfers, and inventory adjustments don't tie changes back to a specific lot the way sales orders do — use them when batch precision isn't required.
Why It Matters
Lot tracking gives you traceability from receiving through sales. It's required for businesses in regulated industries (food, supplements, cosmetics) and strongly recommended for any goods where batch-level traceability matters.
