A sales order (SO) is a document that records a customer's request to purchase goods from you. In Peasy, sales orders track what was ordered, the price, and whether it's been shipped and invoiced.
How It Works in Peasy
- Create sales orders from Sell > Sales Orders
- Each SO is linked to a customer and a location
- Add sell items to the order with quantities and prices (pulled from price lists if configured)
- SOs move through statuses: Draft → Pending → Fulfilled (or Cancelled)
- A sales order is a promise — it commits stock but doesn't move inventory on its own. Fulfilling it creates a shipment, and the shipment is what deducts inventory
- An order can be fulfilled in one shipment or several partial shipments, and can have one or more invoices
- SO quantities reduce available quantity even before fulfillment (committed stock)
Why It Matters
Sales orders are the core of your selling workflow. They connect customer demand to inventory (committing stock), fulfillment (shipping goods), and invoicing (collecting payment). They're also what drives available quantity calculations.
