Connecting ChatGPT and Claude
You can connect Peasy to AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude so they can answer questions about your business — inventory, orders, bills, payments, vendors, and more — using your live Peasy data. They can also stage spreadsheet imports for you to review inside Peasy. This is an optional power-user feature; you don't need it for everyday work in Peasy.
How to Get There
You need to be an admin. Go to Settings → API Keys and find the Connected AI Agents section at the top.
How to Connect
- In the Connected AI Agents section, click Connect next to ChatGPT or Claude.
- Copy the MCP Server URL shown in the dialog (it looks like
https://your-workspace.peasyos.com/api/mcp). MCP is the standard way AI assistants connect to outside tools. - Click Open ChatGPT (or Open Claude) and, in that assistant, add Peasy as a connector and paste the MCP Server URL.
- The assistant sends you back to Peasy to sign in, choose your workspace, and approve access.
- Approve, and the assistant is connected. You can start asking it about your Peasy data.
What You're Approving
When you approve access, you grant:
- Read access — the assistant can look up your inventory, orders, bills, invoices, payments, vendors, and customers.
- Stage imports for review (optional) — the assistant can prepare a spreadsheet bill or sales-order import and send it to Peasy for your review.
The assistant never finalizes anything. It can't create or pay a bill, confirm an order, or change your data — those actions always happen inside Peasy, by you.
Managing Connected Agents
The Connected AI Agents section lists every assistant you've connected, with the access it has and when it was last used. Click Revoke next to any agent to disconnect it immediately. You can reconnect later by going through the steps above again.
Using an API Key Instead
If you're connecting a different MCP client (not ChatGPT or Claude) and it needs a key, scroll down to Active Keys and click Create Key. Give it a name, and check Allow data import staging if you want it to stage imports too. Copy the key right away — you won't be able to see it again — and paste it into your client where it asks for an authorization key.
Good to Know
- Admin only. Only admins can connect agents or create keys.
- One workspace per connection. Each connection is tied to the workspace you approve. If you manage more than one, connect each separately.
- Revoking is instant. A revoked agent or key stops working right away.
- Pasting a spreadsheet? When you connect an assistant, it can read a spreadsheet's contents that you share with it directly — it doesn't fetch files from web links on Peasy's behalf.
