This setting decides whether recorded freight is included when Peasy saves the cost of an ingredient used in a work order. It is on by default.
How to Get There
Go to Configure > Business, then find Cost of Goods Sold (COGS). Use the Use landed cost as work order input cost switch. Select Continue in the confirmation dialog to save your choice, or Cancel to leave it as it is.
What the Switch Changes
- On: An input drawn from a received lot uses the receipt's unit cost plus that received line's recorded freight per unit. Peasy converts the cost to the ingredient's input unit when needed.
- Off: An input drawn from a received lot uses the receipt's unit cost without freight.
For example, if a received lot has a $10 unit cost and $20 of recorded freight across 100 received units, the input cost is $10.20 per received unit with the setting on, or $10.00 with it off. If no freight is recorded on the received line, the setting makes no difference to that lot's input cost.
This setting affects work order inputs. It does not add freight to the direct sales COGS of a purchased item.
What Happens to Saved Inputs
Changing the switch does not recalculate work order input costs already saved, including inputs on completed work orders. The new choice applies when you record a new input or choose a lot for an input from then on. Changing only a saved input's quantity keeps its saved unit cost.
If you need to correct a particular work order input, open that work order and edit the input's lot or cost. A completed work order's total cost updates when an input cost changes.
What Happens When a Receipt Changes Later
Correcting a received line's Unit Cost updates saved work order inputs that draw from that lot, using the setting's current on or off choice. Editing that received line's Freight Cost also updates those matching inputs while the setting is on. A freight-only edit does not reprice them while it is off.
The update is limited to inputs from the same item family and lot. A different item that happens to have the same lot number is not affected. If the receipt cost changes for a completed work order, Peasy recalculates that work order's production total.
Good to Know
- Freight must be recorded on the received line to enter a work order input's landed cost. Editing a bill's freight later does not change freight already recorded on received lines.
- Peasy saves a work order input's cost when you log it. A later change to the item's general price alone does not rewrite that saved cost.
- The Landed Cost estimate in Buy > Items to buy is separate from this setting.
