Search and Command Palette

The command palette is Peasy's universal search bar. Press Cmd+K (or Ctrl+K on Windows) to open it from anywhere in the app. It's the fastest way to find items, navigate pages, and take quick actions.

How to Open It

  • Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows)
  • Or click the Beacon pill anchored to the bottom of the screen — it opens the palette in place

When the palette is open, the search input lives inside the floating toolbar and results appear above it. Press Escape to close it.

What You Can Search For

The command palette searches across everything in Peasy:

  • Items and products — Find by name, SKU, or description
  • Vendors and suppliers — Search by name
  • Customers — Search by name or email
  • Purchase orders — Type a PO number (like "PO-123") to jump to it
  • Sales orders — Type an SO number (like "SO-456") to find it
  • Templates — Find production templates
  • Categories, locations, and more

Quick Actions

Beyond search, the command palette lets you take action instantly:

  • Navigate to any page — Type "Purchase Orders" or "Inventory" to jump there
  • Create records — Quickly create a customer, vendor, item, order, or work order
  • Launch feature guides — Access guided tours directly from search
  • Get help — Open a Beacon chat, chat with human support, or jump straight to a help article from the "Help + Human Support" group
  • Change settings — Switch themes, contact support, or log out

Each action shows an inline hint (like "Open modal", "Start product tour", or "Open help doc") so you know what will happen before you press Enter.

The search is smart about what you type:

  • PO numbers — Typing "PO-" automatically searches purchase orders
  • SO numbers — Typing "SO-" searches sales orders
  • Fuzzy matching — Even if you don't spell something perfectly, Peasy will find close matches
  • Recent items — When you first open the palette (before typing), it shows your recently visited items

Good to Know

  • The command palette works from any page — the Beacon pill is always anchored to the bottom of the screen.
  • When the palette is idle (no search yet), it shows your 3 most recently visited items, Quick Actions for the current page, and a Help + Human Support group.
  • Search results are grouped — Navigation appears above Help, and Help articles and Feature Guides are combined into a single "Help" group.
  • Search results show the type of each result (item, vendor, customer, etc.) so you can tell them apart.
  • Press Escape to close the palette without taking action.
  • The palette is designed for keyboard-first use — arrow keys to navigate, Enter to select.
