About Peasy
Peasy is the operating system for independent Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) brands. These are the packaged goods you buy at a store, from food to home cleaning supplies. Running a CPG business today means juggling spreadsheets, disconnected tools, and guesswork across inventory, purchasing, production, and sales. We replace that chaos with one platform that integrates with the tools brands already run on, like Shopify and QuickBooks. Beacon, our AI agent, answers their questions and helps them get the most out of Peasy today. We’re building it into something that runs the operational side of their business for them. The software is 100% free. We make money on the payment transactions that flow through it. It’s the same model that took Toast from a restaurant POS to a public company earning the vast majority of its revenue from payments. It also means quality and reliability are a requirement, not a preference. Brands only route their money through software they trust to run their operations. We have brands on Peasy today, $2M raised, and 2+ years of runway to build the rest.
The Role
As our founding full stack engineer, you’ll report to Jason, our Head of Engineering, who was the second engineer at Remitly and grew that team to nearly 40 engineers. He also managed teams at Amazon and Meta. You’ll work directly with the founders to shape Peasy’s product, architecture, and engineering culture. As the second engineer on the team, you’ll own entire domains rather than tickets, make the foundational technical calls, and build the systems that take us from tens of customers today to 100 by year end and 1,000 by mid-2027. You’ll also be working at the edge of how software actually gets built right now. Much of our codebase is AI-generated, which means we ship fast and face problems most teams haven’t solved yet, such as how to enforce quality when PRs arrive faster than humans can read them. You’ll help us answer that, and build Beacon into an agent brands hand real work to. Brands trust us with the operational backbone of their business. Making Peasy beautiful, performant, and rock solid is the job.
What You’ll Do
Own domains end to end. You’ll take one or more of inventory, purchasing, production, or sales and own them from the data model to the UI to the customer conversation about why something isn’t working.
Build Beacon into an agent that does the work. Beacon answers brands’ questions and helps them use Peasy today. Next it needs to actually do things for them: take actions inside the product, handle real operational work, and be trusted with it. You’ll build those workflows and the evals and guardrails that make them dependable.
Make the system trustworthy at 100x the customers. We’re at tens of customers and heading to a thousand — built so the next 10x doesn’t require a rewrite. That means real observability, resilient infrastructure, and finding failures before our customers do.
Make AI-generated code safe to ship. We ship far faster than a traditional team and generate PRs faster than any human can read them. You’ll build the CI, testing, and layered review approach that lets us keep the speed as we grow without shipping bad code into a system handling brands’ money.
Deepen the integrations that make Peasy the source of truth. Shopify, QuickBooks, and the payments stack (Stripe, Moov, Plaid). This is where the product earns its position and where the edge cases live.
Set the engineering bar. You’re early enough that the practices you establish — testing, review, deploy, on-call — become how this team works for years.
Who You Are
A builder who’s done it at scale and wants to build without the scaffolding. You know what good looks like. Now you want to build it yourself, without review boards, a roadmap you didn’t write, or three layers between you and the decision.
AI as leverage, with judgment about where it ends. You build with it every day. You also know which of its output you’d stake a customer’s payments on, and you can tell the difference quickly.
Sharp about code you didn’t write. Ours is large, moves fast, and much of it came out of an AI. The job is deciding what to trust, what to harden, and what to throw away.
Interested in the customer, not just the system. You’ll talk to the brands using Peasy, hear what’s broken, and let that shape what you build.
A genuinely good teammate. Low ego, high standards. You disagree well, commit fast when the call goes the other way, and care more that the work is right than that you were.
Basic Qualifications
Seattle, in person. We work out of Foundations on Capitol Hill. We work best in the room together.
U.S. work authorization required. We’re not able to sponsor visas at this time.
5+ years of full-stack engineering experience shipping production systems people depend on.
Deep Next.js experience. Our entire app runs on Next.js (App Router) with React and TypeScript. This is the day-to-day, so you should be strong here, not just familiar.
Strong Postgres skills, plus building and consuming REST APIs and third-party integrations.
You build with LLMs every day and have shipped something real with them. Prompting, iteration, and the work of making non-deterministic output reliable enough to put in front of customers.
You’ve owned production reliability. CI, testing, observability, and being on the hook when it breaks.
Nice to have:
Agentic workflows and LLM tooling (we use the Anthropic, OpenAI, and Gemini APIs)
Payments or fintech experience
Commerce, ERP, or inventory software, or building for SMBs
CPG or retail familiarity
Prior early-stage or founder experience
Our Stack
You don’t need every item on this list, but it’s what you’ll be working in day to day:
Framework & language: Next.js (App Router) with Turbopack, React 19, TypeScript, deployed on Vercel
Data & backend: Supabase (Postgres, Auth)
AI: Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google Gemini APIs
UI: Tailwind CSS, Radix UI / shadcn-style components, TanStack Query, TanStack Table
Integrations: Shopify, QuickBooks, Stripe, Moov, Plaid, Cloudinary, Resend
Quality, testing, and CI: Jest, Playwright, GitHub Actions, Sentry, PostHog
Why Join Now
The room. We’re at Foundations on Capitol Hill, surrounded by other founders and early teams building right now. Being in that room every day is worth something you can’t get remote.
Range. You’ll work across the product, the infrastructure, the AI, and the customer conversation. Few jobs at this level of seniority give you all four.
Mission. The world is a better place when small businesses thrive. Independent CPG brands are competing against corporations with hundred-person ops teams. Peasy is how they win anyway.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $150K–$180K, and it moves as the company does
Equity: Generous early stage stock options, four-year vest with a one-year cliff
Healthcare: Fully covered, 100% free for you and dependents
How to Apply
Send a note to Jason, our Head of Engineering, at [email protected] with your LinkedIn and one thing you’ve built that you’re proud of, and what was hard about it. We read every one, and you’ll hear back within a week either way. We move fast — a few conversations, not a two-month gauntlet, and we’ll tell you where you stand at every step.
Peasy is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, marital status, veteran or military status, disability, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law.
